DeKalb County Jail Information and Inmate Search

The Daviess/Dekalb Regional Jail is the only regional jail in Missouri. It has a capacity of 160 inmates. Since 2022, the jail’s administrative staff has included Bret Thogmartin as Director, and Nicholas Neill as Deputy Director, and Lori Burke as Administrative Assistant

How to Send Mail or Package

Personal mail to inmates may include up to 10 photographs no larger than 4×6”. Up to two softcover books are accepted if they are mailed directly from a distributor. A soft-backed Bible may also be sent to inmates. Personal mail to inmates must include the sender’s full name and address and should be addressed to:

Money can be deposited to inmates’ accounts at the jail. Cash and credit cards are accepted. Money orders may also be mailed to the jail. The name and birthdate of the inmate should be included on each. Money may also be added online at the Inmate Canteen website.

Visitation Hours

Visitation at the jail takes place in a non-contact visiting room. Visits are held Monday through Friday, 9am to 11am and 1pm to 3pm. They must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. Video visits are also available and operated by Inmate Canteen. Visitors should create an account on their website in order to schedule and pay for video visits.

DeKalb County Sheriff Information

The county jail is its own entity and is not operated by the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office. Ot is governed by a Board of Directors that includes the Daviess and DeKalb Presiding Commissioners and their Sheriffs. The current DeKalb CountySheriff is Kasey Keesaman. The office’s administrative hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm.

DeKalb County Public Records Information

Missouri’s Sunshine Law mandates that all records kept by government offices, including the Sheriff’s Office, be considered public information and that copies of these records be provided on request. Each office is required to have a custodian of records who is responsible for responding to public records requests. Requests may be made in any format (in person, by phone, mail, email, or fax), but written requests are preferred.
