Jasper County Jail Information and Inmate Search

The Jasper County jail is located in Carthage, Missouri. The current facility was completed in 1993 and constructed to house 165 inmates in six pods. For the past several years, the jail has had an average daily inmate population between 180 to 200 inmates. Lieutenant Michael Kingsbury is the current Jail Administrator. The staff also includes a captain, seven sergeants, twenty-eight detention officers, and one medical tech.

The current inmate roster is available online. It includes inmates’ names, holds from other counties and cities, bond amount, and work release information. It does not include mugshots.

How to Send Mail or Package

Personal mail to inmates must be on postcards no larger than 5×7”. Books may be shipped directly from the publisher. A return name and address is required for all personal mail. Mail should be addressed as follows:

Funds may be added to inmates’ commissary accounts online at JailATM or by calling. There is also a kiosk in the jail lobby that accepts cash and credit cards. Money orders mail be mailed to inmates and should be labeled commissary.

Visitation Hours

Visitation is conducted by video and is offered both onsite and remotely. Inmates may have one free onsite visit on their visitation day. The visit lasts 15 minutes and may be attended by up to three visitors in one party. On Site Video Visit Hours are 10:30 A.M- 2:00 P.M and 6:00 P.M- 9:00 P.M. Days are determined by housing assignment as follows: Monday is visitation for Pods A, G, and H; Tuesday for B and J; Thursday for C; Friday for D; Saturday for E pod and T-4; and Sunday for F, K, L, and M pods, T-5, and holdovers. Ministers can visit on Wednesdays.

Jasper County Sheriff Information

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office operates and maintains the county jail. Randee Kaiser is the current Sheriff and Derek Walrod is the Chief Deputy. The Administration also includes Captain Becky Stevens and Lieutenants Matt Stoller and Alvin Peavler, the Patrol Commander. The Patrol Division includes 28 deputies. The office’s administrative hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.

Jasper County occupies an area of 641 square miles in the southwest portion of Missouri. It shares its western border with Kansas. At the 2020 census, the population was 122,761. The county seat is Carthage and the largest city is Joplin.
